The second year moves into the more practical applications of defensive and offensive technologies, cumulating with a capstone project in which students apply the sum of their learning in the program. The first year of the program delivers a strong base of fundamental skills in programming, operating systems, networking, and strategy. You will use a wide variety of defensive and offensive tools while learning the fundamentals of: networking, malware analysis, reverse engineering, tool construction, operating systems internals, forensics, legal/ethical issues, social engineering and military strategy. The Information Systems Security program prepares you for entering the security profession with confidence and solid fundamental knowledge. Terrorism, rogue states, organized crime and low level cyber-warfare are all part of today’s threat landscapes. Not only are businesses focused on the security of their data, nation states are focused on the security of their people. When the systems work it is transparent but when they fail it can be catastrophic. The Cyber Security program is designed to prepare information and cyber security professionals with the ability to manage, provide policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, policy framework, assess and mitigate risk and integrate advanced security solutions. The program curriculum provides students with a broad understanding of cyber security concepts, industry best practices for information security and key security concepts that will protect an organization against fraud, data breaches and other vulnerabilities.
The Cyber Security, Ontario College Graduate Certificate Program will provide students with key concepts of information security, technical and practical job skills necessary to secure, protect and defend network infrastructures and an organization’s valuable data assets.
